Outback Concrete Replacement

Not every damaged slab needs to be torn out. And not every damaged slab should be coated. Some concrete has reached the end of its useful life - structurally compromised, heaved beyond leveling, or deteriorated past the point where any surface treatment will hold.

Applications

Where We Replace Concrete

🚗

Driveways

Heaved slabs, through-cracking, and subbase failures replaced to the correct slope, finish, and dimension — ready for coating if the design calls for it.

🏠

Garage Floors

Heaved, cracked through, or failed past coating viability. New concrete installed correctly gives The Armor Core System™ the foundation it was designed to bond to.

🚶

Sidewalks & Walkways

Heaved, cracked, and trip-hazard sections replaced to match the grade, width, and finish of the surrounding concrete. The work should look like it was designed to be there.

🌿

Patios

Through-cracking, settlement, and severe deterioration removed and replaced. Finished and graded for outdoor living, coating application, or Rubaroc® surfacing.

🏊

Pool Decks

Water exposure, chemical contact, freeze-thaw cycling, and constant foot traffic take their toll. When the slab is beyond restoration, replacement is the right foundation for Rubaroc® or The Armor Core System™.

🏭

Commercial Surfaces

Loading dock approaches, parking areas, entrance slabs, and commercial walkways replaced to the specification the application demands — not the minimum that gets the job done cheapest.

🪜

Steps & Stoops

Spalled, cracked, and crumbling entry steps and stoops replaced cleanly. Finished to match the surrounding concrete or prepped for a Rubaroc® or coating application on the same visit.

The Process

Replacement Done
the Outback Way.

Every step matters. None are optional.

1

Assessment & Recommendation

We evaluate structural condition, cracking pattern, subbase integrity, and drainage. If replacement is the right answer, we say so. If it isn't, we say that too — and recommend what is.

2

Removal & Demolition

Clean, professional removal of the existing slab. We haul everything off-site. The subbase is then evaluated, compacted, and graded before any new concrete goes down. This is where most replacements cut corners. We don't.

3

Forming & Preparation

Forms set to the correct grade, slope, and dimension. Proper drainage slope is engineered into every project — not assumed. Control joints are planned and placed to manage where the concrete will crack as it cures, rather than leaving that to chance.

4

Placement & Finishing

Concrete placed, struck off, and finished to the specified surface texture — broom finish, exposed aggregate, smooth, or finished for a subsequent coating or Rubaroc® application. If a coating follows, the surface profile is optimized for it from the start.

5

Curing & Handoff

Proper curing separates concrete that lasts from concrete that deteriorates prematurely. We control the curing environment and timeline to ensure the slab reaches full design strength — and coordinate the coating schedule if the project includes one.

+

Optional — Coating or Surfacing

Once the new slab has cured, we can apply The Armor Core System™ polyurea coating or Rubaroc® rubber surfacing on the same project. New concrete plus a lifetime-warranted coating finish — coordinated start to finish by one company.

The Framework

Coat It.
Resurface It.
Replace It.

Option 01
Coat It
🛡️

Structurally sound concrete with surface-level wear, staining, or aging. The Armor Core System™ protects and extends the life of the slab indefinitely.

Best for:
Surface staining & wear
Minor hairline cracks
Structurally sound slab
Option 02
Resurface It
🔧

Moderate surface deterioration or minor cracking that exceeds what a thin-film coating can address. A resurfacing system bridges the gap between coating and replacement.

Best for:
Moderate surface wear
Visible cracking
Cosmetic deterioration
Option 03
Replace It
🏗️

Structurally compromised, heaved, or deteriorated past the point where any surface treatment will hold. Replacement is the only honest answer — and the right foundation for everything that comes next.

Best for:
Through-cracking & heaving
Subbase failure
Structural compromise

The Honest Approach

We Tell You What Your Concrete Actually Needs.

Not every damaged slab needs to be torn out. And not every damaged slab should be coated. Some concrete has reached the end of its useful life — structurally compromised, heaved beyond leveling, or deteriorated past the point where any surface treatment will hold. When that's the case, the right answer isn't a coating. It's replacement.

Most contractors have one answer for every problem — whatever they sell. A coating contractor recommends a coating. A concrete contractor recommends a pour. Outback is one of the few companies that can honestly evaluate your concrete and recommend the solution that makes sense — coat it, resurface it, or replace it — because we do all three.

The Outback Standard

"That position requires sometimes telling a homeowner that the coating they came in wanting isn't the right answer — and recommending a full replacement when a coating would be cheaper to sell. We put the right outcome for the surface ahead of the easier sale."

🧪

One Company. Every Answer.

We install polyurea coatings, Rubaroc® rubber surfacing, and pour new concrete. That range means we have no incentive to recommend the wrong solution.

🔍

Honest Assessment First.

Every project starts with an evaluation of the actual concrete — structural condition, cracking, subbase, and drainage. The recommendation follows the findings, not the margin.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my concrete needs to be replaced or just coated?

Surface staining, wear, and minor cracking are coating candidates. Through-cracking, heaving, settlement, and subbase failure are replacement indicators. The free assessment answers this question specifically for your concrete — and we'll tell you honestly either way.

Can you coat new concrete right away?

New concrete needs to cure to the appropriate moisture content before a coating is applied — typically 28 days minimum. We account for this in every project where replacement and coating are combined, and coordinate the full timeline accordingly.

Do you handle removal and haul-off?

Yes. Removal, demolition, and haul-off of the existing slab are included in the replacement scope. We leave the site clean and prepared for the new pour.

Can I get new concrete and a coating in the same project?

Yes — and this is often the right approach. New concrete replaced correctly, cured properly, then finished with The Armor Core System™ or Rubaroc® is the highest-quality outcome available for any outdoor or garage surface. We coordinate both scopes as a single project.

Is concrete replacement more expensive than coating?

Yes — concrete replacement involves demolition, subbase preparation, material, and finishing labor that a coating project does not. It is also the right answer in situations where a coating is not. We will always tell you which is which before any work begins.
