LOCATED IN FORT WAYNE

A Campus Built to Last &
a Walkway That Needs to Match

Concordia Theological Seminary has been part of Fort Wayne since 1844. That alone tells you something about the kind of institution it is: one that has outlasted trends, weathered decades, and built a reputation that extends far beyond northeast Indiana. The seminary trains Lutheran clergy and deaconesses at a campus that is itself historically significant; the current grounds were designed by Eero Saarinen, the Finnish-American architect behind the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and the TWA Flight Center at JFK.

When an institution like that calls Outback Concrete Coatings, it’s because they need a surface that can handle the demands of a high-traffic institutional environment while holding up to the visual standard a landmark campus requires. That’s the job we were brought in to do.

Engineered to withstand

The decorative flake coating doesn’t just cover the exterior walkway, it carries through into the building entrance itself, creating a seamless transition from outside to inside. The interior entrance collects everything that comes in off the walkway: water, mud, sand, and ice melt tracked in on footwear. It needs to clean fast, resist staining, and hold its appearance under the kind of institutional traffic that never really stops. The polyurea topcoat handles all of that without any special maintenance.

A solid-color coating on an institutional entrance would show every scuff mark and water stain from wet shoes within weeks of installation. The full-broadcast decorative flake system disguises day-to-day surface contact naturally. The texture and color variation absorb visual imperfection between cleanings. It’s the same reason we use flake systems in high-traffic commercial environments across Fort Wayne.

Why The Armor Core System™ on an Institutional Walkway

Topical Sealer

What most institutional maintenance programs default to (Not Outback). A topical sealer has a lifespan measured in years, not decades. It wears unevenly under foot traffic and requires reapplication on a regular schedule.

Polyurea Coating

Bonds at the molecular level to the prepared concrete, creates a permanent flexible membrane that moves with the slab through freeze-thaw cycling, and holds its surface integrity under continuous foot traffic indefinitely.

Slip-Resistant

A critical requirement for any exterior institutional surface in Indiana winters. The anti-slip finish addresses wet and icy conditions without compromising the visual quality of the surface.

Diamond grinding prep

Our prep process opens the concrete profile across the entire area before any coating goes down, creating a consistent mechanical bond that holds through years of institutional use.

Style with durability

“The entrance is the first concrete a prospective student walks across. It should reflect the same standard as everything else on campus.”

Your Neighbor.
Not a 1-800 Number.

When the Webb family purchased Outback Concrete Coatings, they saw an opportunity to elevate what homeowners and businesses should expect from a concrete coating company. Their vision was simple: combine superior products, refined installation standards, clear communication, and a level of accountability rarely seen in the industry.

Today, that vision defines the Outback experience. From garages and basements to patios, pool decks, and commercial floors, every project is built around craftsmanship, durability, and a finished look worthy of the home or business it protects.

Fort Wayne's Institutional Community

Concordia Theological Seminary is one of Fort Wayne’s most significant institutions. 180 years of history, a nationally recognized academic program, and a campus with genuine architectural distinction. It’s also a neighbor. Outback Concrete Coatings is a Fort Wayne company, and taking care of institutions that are part of this community’s fabric is exactly the kind of work we want to do.

If your organization, institution, school, or commercial facility has concrete that needs attention, walkways, entrances, service areas, loading docks, we’d like to talk. The same system, the same standard, the same lifetime warranty.
